#1 BIPD CHIEF JOE CLARK + BIFD CHIEF JARED MORAVEK

Opening the 2026 Grand Old Fourth Parade, please welcome Bainbridge Island Fire Chief Jared Moravec and Bainbridge Island Police Chief Joe Clark!

Together, the Bainbridge Island Fire Department and Bainbridge Island Police Department proudly serve and protect our island community every day. The Fire Department responds to nearly 4,000 calls each year, safeguarding lives, property, and the environment through prevention, education, and emergency response. The Police Department serves our 27.78 square miles of land, 53 miles of shoreline, and extensive waterways with a commitment to public safety and community partnership.

Today, you'll see some of our dedicated firefighters walking alongside their newest fire engine, while others are staffing the Bainbridge Island Fire Department community booth in the T&C North Parking Lot or remaining on duty, ready to respond at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, Chief Clark and the officers of the Bainbridge Island Police Department are helping ensure today's celebration is safe and enjoyable for everyone.

#2 BAINBRIDGE CHAMBER

The Bainbridge Chamber is a network of local business owners, employees, and nonprofit stakeholders in our Island economy. 

Founded in 1927, we are advocates for our members and supporters of economic and community development. The Bainbridge Chamber has proudly produced the Grand Old Fourth festival since 1967.

#3 BAINBRIDGE ISLAND AMERICAN LEGION POST 172

American Legion Colin Hyde Post 172 is in its 85th year on the Island, and has provided the Grand Old Fourth parade Color Guard for decades. Marching behind the Color Guard are incoming Legion Post Commander Matt Klous, Legion Auxiliary Unit President Gia Doyle, and Sons of the American Legion Squadron Commander Bill Lemon.

#4 GRAND MARSHAL COMMANDER GARY SAKUMA

Gary “Samurai” Satoshi Sakuma, our 2026 Grand Marshal, was born February 28th, 1944, at Minidoka Internment Camp, Idaho. He moved back to Bainbridge Island in 1947 following his family’s internment with his father, Tadashi, his mother, Fujiko, and his brother, David. 

Gary attended Commodore Elementary School, then Bainbridge High School, Class of 1962. He then graduated from Washington State University in Pullman WA in 1966. Through AFROTC he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. After entering active duty in September 1966, he was awarded Navigator Wings, Electronic Warfare Officer certification, and the silver Pilot Wings. 

Reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Sakuma flew the EB-57C, F-4D, O-A2, A-10, and F-16 and amassed more than 3800 PIC flying hours. He attended Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Air Force. Sakuma went on to fly for United Airlines before retiring at the age of 60.

In 2013, he joined the American Legion, Colin Hyde Post 172, and was Commander of the Post for 11 years. In 2017, he joined BIJAC. Frank Kitamoto, President of BIJAC, asked him to be a Trustee and he was bestowed the title of “Legacy Member.” Please join us in honoring Lieutenant Colonel as our Parade Grand Marshall and honored festival guest.

Our City Council serves this vibrant community by setting policies, representing residents, and helping preserve the natural beauty, character, and quality of life that make Bainbridge Island so special. Our Interim City Manager, Ellen Schroer, oversees the City's day-to-day operations, ensuring reliable services and responsive local government for our community. And give a wave to the driver of our float, Groundwater Resources Specialist Christian Berg! Christian helps protect and steward one of Bainbridge Island's most precious resources, our groundwater, ensuring our community has a safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply for generations to come.

 

This colorful float celebrates the heart of Bainbridge Island, featuring the people, flora, and fauna that make our island such an extraordinary place to call home. Happy Grand Old Fourth!

#6 ISLAND HEALTH & FITNESS

Island Health & Fitness proudly carries the giant American flag for the 23rd consecutive year. Now in its 24th year under local ownership, the club continues to promote health, wellness, and community on Bainbridge Island.

#7 BAINBRIDGE ISLAND FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Bainbridge Island Fire Department has been serving our island community since 1942. The Department would like to wish everyone a happy Fourth of July and ask that you please help safeguard our community this wildfire season by adhering to all outdoor burning regulations and supporting Bainbridge Island’s ban on consumer fireworks. Spartronics is Bainbridge Island's FIRST Robotics Competition team. Fresh from the World Championships, the team continues to inspire students through engineering, innovation, and STEM education.

#17 BAINBRIDGE ISLAND FOOTBALL CLUB (BIFC)

Founded in 1983, Bainbridge Island FC has served the island soccer community for more than four decades. The club offers programs for players of all ages and hosts the annual Island Cup Tournament each summer.

#24 BHS Varsity Baseball - State Champs

 Bainbridge High School varsity boys baseball achieved their 2nd state 2A championship in a row!  With 11 seniors who have graduated from the varsity team this is a grand send off!

#27 Boy Scout Troop #1496

Bainbridge Island's oldest Scout troop, Troop 1496 offers youth opportunities for camping, hiking, rafting, outdoor adventure, and leadership development while building lifelong friendships and valuable life skills.

#28 Girl Scouts of Western Washington 

Girl Scouts of Western Washington serves more than 14,000 youth across Washington through programs focused on STEM, entrepreneurship, outdoor adventure, leadership, and community service.

#29 Bainbridge Boys Lacrosse 

Founded in 1987, Bainbridge Boys Lacrosse has introduced generations of island athletes to the sport while emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. The volunteer-run nonprofit serves players from kindergarten through high school.

 #30 Bainbridge Island Girls Lacrosse Association

Since 1987, Bainbridge Island Girls Lacrosse has given girls from kindergarten through high school the opportunity to learn, compete, and grow through the sport. The organization is entirely volunteer-run and welcomes players of all experience levels.

#31 Bainbridge Ballet

Bainbridge Ballet Performance Group is a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing young dancers through performance opportunities, professional training, and arts education. The organization is also home to Bainbridge Island's annual production of The Nutcracker.

#32 FPIES (eff-pies) Foundation 

FPIES, or Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome, is a rare food allergy that affects the gastrointestinal system with severe complications. FPIES is most common in children but occurs in all ages, with any food, and has no cure. #33 Bainbridge Island Kiwanis Foundation

#34 Kennedy for Clerk Campaign 

Brien Kennedy is running for Kitsap County Clerk in the August 4th Democratic primary -- only the third contested Clerk race in Kitsap County in 28 years. Brien is a Poulsbo resident and deputy clerk at the Kitsap County Superior Court who is running to bring fiscal accountability, digital modernization, and transparency to an office that serves thousands of Kitsap County residents every year for jury duty, passports, court records, and family law. Coastline Driving School is proud to help new drivers gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to stay safe on the road. Serving students throughout our community, Coastline Driving School offers comprehensive driver education, behind-the-wheel training, and a commitment to developing responsible drivers for the future. Today, we're excited to be part of the parade and celebrate the community we are honored to serve!

#36 Young People’s March for Peace and Kindness 

The Young People’s March for Peace and Kindness, an opportunity to practice service in the spirit of MLK Day and was founded in 2018. Last year, over 450 people showed up to march, wow!

The march is an invitation for kids of all ages to practice using their strong voices and make a joyful noise together with signs, songs, banners, and friends.

Save the date! The march will happen this year on Monday, January 18th. Children of all ages, their families, and community members are invited to gather for letter writing between 10:30 and 11:15 at the Bainbridge Island Library. At 11:15, the march leaves for Winslow, where it'll end at the post office. All welcome.

The march is made possible with a little help from our friends: Odyssey Multiage Program, Kitsap Regional Library, the BISD Multicultural Advisory Council, Charter Real Estate, and the folks at Roam and Restore Pet Wellness.

Celebrating 68 years in business, Bainbridge Gardens has helped island residents grow beautiful gardens and landscapes for generations. Visit their historic Miller Road location for plants, gifts, classes, seasonal events, and the popular Pumpkin Walk each fall.

Since 1977, The Island School has provided a flexible learning environment where every child is known and celebrated. Its programs now include both K–5 education and a part-time outdoor preschool focused on curiosity, creativity, and compassion.

#40 West Sound Soccer Academy

One Call For All thanks our community for the most successful Red Envelope campaign ever, raising over $3 million for local nonprofits! The Red Envelope Campaign has been One Call For All's annual collective fundraising effort for local nonprofits since 1960, raising millions & millions of dollars and growing steadily over the years. Now representing over 130 organizations, the current campaign has raised over $3M in unrestricted operating funds for these organizations that serve us. #43 Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island 

The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island supports local and international service projects through volunteerism, philanthropy, and community leadership. Its annual Rotary Auction & Rummage Sale continues to be one of the island's signature fundraising events.

#44 Bainbridge Island Little League Softball

 This is the 8-10 and 9-11 girls softball all stars representing Bainbridge Island at the 2026 district tournament.  They are practicing hard and getting ready to show their skills in July.

#45 Mobility For All 

Mobility for All is a nonprofit expanding access to affordable, sustainable transportation across Kitsap County. Today you'll see their all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, part of the electric carshare program located just around the corner at City Hall. Also joining the parade is a classic 1973 Volkswagen Bus, converted to 100% electric by EV Works, a local Bainbridge Island business specializing in electric vehicle conversions. Together, these vehicles represent both the history and future of transportation. Mobility for All is committed to reducing transportation barriers and creating a cleaner, more connected future for our community.

#46 Bainbridge Island Saddle Club

Founded in 1948, the Bainbridge Island Saddle Club promotes horsemanship and equestrian sports through affordable shows, clinics, educational programs, and family-friendly events. Located next to Manzanita Park, the volunteer organization has served the community for more than 75 years.

The next 3 floats are the 10, 11, & 12U Bainbridge Island Little League All-Star teams, representing the very best of our local baseball community. To promote a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment for pickleball on Bainbridge Island, Washington, the birthplace of the sport, while creating opportunities for friendly competitive play. The purpose also includes working to build and maintain high quality, year round, publicly available courts, honoring the history and traditions of the game, and enhancing the culture of this unique Bainbridge Island sport.

#53 Newlife Church 

Newlife Church is a Bainbridge Island faith community focused on connection, encouragement, and practical hope. Through programs for children, students, and families, along with partnerships that support local schools and nonprofits, Newlife is committed to serving the Bainbridge community.

Roller Hockey: It’s the fastest, funnest sport on the island! Bainbridge Roller Hockey welcomes players age 7 to 17, girls and boys, from new skaters to expert stick-handlers. Drop by and watch our games every Saturday from May through July at the outdoor hockey rink at Battle Point Park. Come play next year, because kids who play roller hockey LOVE roller hockey!

The Asian Arts and Heritage Festival under the umbrella of Arts and Humanities Bainbridge celebrates their 3rd year this year!  With 31 events including island wide karaoke, mahjong, the Asian Monologues, representation from the Indipino, Melanesian, Japanese and Filipino communities, cultural presentations, dance parties and more throughout the entire month of May- it is Bainbridge Island's unique way of celebrating Asian American Hawaiian Pacific Islander month.  Lead by founder of the festival and chair Stephanie Reese and her amazing team of board members and community volunteers they had their best festival finale yet at Waterfront Park and will do so again next year on May 30th- Memorial Day weekend!  Here to give us a taste of the festival finale celebration is Lisa Farrell leading a k pop dance number to  'Golden"

Joe Lombardi is a career public servant who has served Kitsap County as a deputy prosecutor and now a public defender. He has seen firsthand how a mismanaged prosecutor's office can impact community safety. He is running for Kitsap County Prosecutor to restore integrity, accountability and transparency. Please welcome the Bainbridge Island Masonic Center — home to William Renton Lodge No. 29, chartered right here in 1879. For nearly 150 years, these men have been woven into the fabric of this community — neighbors, veterans, tradesmen, and civic leaders. This year, as our nation celebrates 250 years of the American experiment, Freemasonry proudly carries forward a tradition older than the Republic itself. Their historic lodge hall is available to rent for your next event, and each year the Lodge awards scholarships to Bainbridge Island high school students investing in their future. They make good men better.

#79 Kitsap Chico Towing 

Serving Kitsap County since 1945, Kitsap Chico Towing continues a long tradition of helping neighbors when they need it most. Their dedicated team and fleet of service vehicles proudly support communities throughout the region.

#81 Queen City Yacht Club 

Founded in Seattle in 1916, Queen City Yacht Club has been part of the Pacific Northwest boating tradition for more than a century. In 1968, the Club purchased its Eagle Harbor property, and just a few years later, in 1971, dedicated members built the clubhouse through volunteer labor. That same spirit of service and community continues today, as Queen City Yacht Club has proudly taken part in the Bainbridge Island Fourth of July Parade for decades. The Club values its close relationship with the Bainbridge Island community and is honored to provide dock space for local police vessels. Leading the way for Queen City Yacht Club in the first vehicle are Commodore Doug Wadden and First Lady Margi Wadden. Members since 2010, they proudly represent the Club and its long-standing tradition of camaraderie, volunteerism, and cruising on the water. And now, here come the Queen City Kids! They’re riding in a converted boat float that has delighted young members since the 1990s. Queen City Yacht Club also reminds everyone to stay safe on and around the water. Wear a life jacket near the shoreline, on the dock, or in a boat.

Helping others deserves a standing ovation: please give a warm welcome to the incredible volunteers of KC HELP, the Knights Community Hospital Equipment Lend Program! KC HELP is a local, charitable nonprofit organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers—70% of whom are proud members of our local Knights of Columbus Councils right here in Kitsap County. Their mission is simple but powerful: to collect, inspect, clean, and repair donated durable medical equipment and provide it to our neighbors in need, absolutely free of charge, for as long as it’s needed. Each year, KC HELP assists over 3,000 people throughout our community, lending out 5,000 pieces of medical equipment from their service centers in Bremerton and Bainbridge Island. Let’s show our appreciation with a big round of applause for the men and women of KC HELP—true hometown heroes who embody the American spirit of compassion, generosity, and support for all. Thank you, KC HELP, for making a difference in the lives of so many!

Winney Farm has been serving Bainbridge Island families since the 1940s. This family-owned farm raises livestock, grows produce, operates a farm store, hosts community events, and is home to Bainbridge Island's annual Fall Festival.

#85 All-Star Drumline 

The All Star Drumline is a premier youth percussion ensemble based in Poulsbo and directed by Terry Marsh. Featuring talented musicians from across Washington, the group has entertained audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest for more than two decades.

#86 Bainbridge Frogrock 

Ribbiting its way down the parade route is Bainbridge Island’s famous Frog Rock! Created in 1971 by high school sweethearts Bob and Ellen Green, this 10-foot-wide, 8-foot-high frog was built by community volunteers and celebrates one of Bainbridge’s most beloved local legends.
